“The Crucible” at the Walter Kerr Theater
I just sat in the second row for a preview of Ivo van Hove’s staging of “The Crucible” and now I’m going to take the next few hours or days to compose myself before writing a proper recap because fuck me, I’m certainly in no state to do that now.
For the moment, only the following:
Ben Whishaw and Sophie Okonedo. Tortured and bloodied and wronged and huddled together, looking for hope. All within arm’s reach. I was shaking.
I’ll also be in the second row, dead center on my birthday. Oh help me God…. I’m not emotionally or even physically ready. Of course, the first time I /ever/ see Ben in person (and in action) come to find out he gets tortured well within my reach apparently…. I think I need an aspirin and some tissues already. This play is going to destroy me in every way.
