helpful things to know if you’re going to see the crucible!

a-forger-and-a-point-man:

particularly if this is your first time on broadway or at a show in general!

-PRINT. YOUR. TICKET. your hotel should be able to do that for you too even if they don’t have a business center 

-doors open 30 mins before the show, and people start lining up early. it’s a big venue and the line is long

-there are bag checks. make sure you finish the drink in your hand because you can’t take it inside

-PEE BEFORE IT STARTS. the intermission is 90 minutes in. restrooms are upstairs. make a run for it at intermission because the lines are super long

-candy bars are $5 at the bar, and drinks are $18+. have cash on you, it’s faster! (because of all the quiet moments in the show, you may wanna finish your snack beforehand…) 

-assistive listening devices are available if you need one. ask the usher. 

-you’ll get handed  a playbill when the usher shows you to your seat. you can ask for an extra one if you want! 

-MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS ON SILENT OR TURNED OFF. DO NOT SET IT TO VIBRATE. WE CAN ALL HEAR IT VIBRATING. 

-TURN YOUR GODDAMN PHONE OFF. did i say that already?

-the intermission is 15 mins long

-the show ends exactly 2 hours and 55 mins after it starts

-the stage door is on the same side of the building as the main entrance, and if you want a good spot at the front, right against the barrier, you’ll have to make your way out as soon as the applause ends and the lights come up

-don’t be afraid to politely call out an actor’s name if you want an autograph or a picture, because when they walk out, they don’t expect that people are waiting for them… they just assume everyone is waiting for the “big” stars. the only exception is if they say “sorry everyone i’m in a rush” or something. typically, however, they’re very happy that someone knows their name and wants their attention! so know the names and faces in your playbill! and have a sharpie in hand and a camera ready!
